IAC Members connected with the community to find out about issues that affect them.

This includes issues that affect participants.

Participants are people with disability who take part in the NDIS.

IAC Members shared reports about these issues with people from the NDIA.

People from the NDIA also shared their response to some of these issues.

Many people in the community think the NDIS costs too much money.

IAC Members are worried about the way the news talks about the NDIS.

This includes how the news talks about fraud in the NDIS.

Fraud is when someone lies to steal:

• money
• information.

Sometimes the news says bad things about participants when it talks about NDIS fraud.

This causes a lot of participants and their families to feel:

• hurt
• upset.

IAC Members asked what the NDIA will do about this issue.

The NDIA talked about how it aims to support the community to understand the NDIS.

The NDIA said the IAC can give it advice about:

The NDIA also talked about its work to stop fraud from happening.

The NDIA said the news often doesn’t talk about all the important parts of this work.

IAC Members said people are worried about the changes to the NIDS

This includes the changes that the Australian Government is still thinking about.

IAC Members shared stories from participants about their NDIS plans.

An NDIS plan has information about:

• a participant and their goals
• what supports a participant needs
• what the NDIS will pay for.

Some participants shared that they need to ask the NDIA to change their NDIS plans.

This is because the NDIA often:

• starts their old NDIS plan again when it finishes
• don’t check if it still works well for them.

This also happens without participants knowing.

IAC Members also said some participants are losing their funding.

Funding is money from your NDIS plan that pays for the supports you need.

Some participants have lost their funding:
