IAC Members connected with the community to find out about issues that affect them.

This includes issues that affect participants.

Participants are people with disability who take part in the NDIS.

IAC Members shared reports about these issues with people from the NDIA.

People from the NDIA also shared their response to some of these issues.

IAC Members said the community is worried about the cost of fuel.

Some providers and support workers are not travelling to participants as much.

Providers support people with disability by delivering a service.

IAC Members shared examples of support workers changing their services.

Support workers often do this last minute.

This means some participants don’t get the support they need.

For example, some participants have missed doctor appointments.

The NDIA said that not many people have contacted them about these issues.

IAC Members said people are afraid about the new changes to the NDIS.

People fear the changes will affect who can use and take part in the NDIS.

The community also fear that participants will lose funding for certain supports.

Funding is money from a participant’s NDIS plan that pays for the supports they need.

An NDIS plan has information about:

• a participant and their goals
• what supports they need
• what the NDIS will pay for.

IAC Members said disability workers are starting to feel very:

• tired
• stressed

People who have worked in the disability community for a long time are thinking about leaving the job.

IAC Members shared what they thought about the Easy Read information from the Minister of the NDIS.

A minister leads an area of the government.

IAC Members were not happy that the Easy Read information didn’t include some of the most important parts.

IAC Members said it’s really important that the NDIA start to make Easy Read NDIS plans.

IAC Members asked the NDIA to share a timeline about when participants can have Easy Read NDIS plans.

IAC Members said there needs to be clearer information about what is changing in the NDIS.

IAC Members asked the NDIA to work with the Ministers of the NDIS about what they share.

IAC Members said the news has been making the NDIS look bad.

This has upset many participants.

IAC Members said it is important to share good stories about the NDIA in the news.

For example, having more people with disability share the good things about the NDIS.

This can help improve how the community feels about:
